Year 5|Greenbank Primary School

Good afternoon all,

Welcome to this week's blog! We've had another busy week in year 5 and the children have continued to work well.

In English, we have been writing our mythical story - each day we have focused on a paragraph at a time. The children have been learning to use more ambitious vocabulary in their writing. We are now up to the final part of our stories where our hero defeats our terrifying mythical creature. The children have been working really hard to improve their work and it has been a pleasure to read them so far.

In maths, we have been continuing to look at addition and subtraction including looking at using the skills learnt to answer multi-step problems. We have started our new maths topic on statistics and will be carrying this on into next week.

In art, we have been practising the skills we will need to paint our pots. First we sketched geometric patterns into our art books then filled them in with black paint. The work produced was brilliant and we can't wait to see how the pattern will look on their finished pots! We have also evaluated last week's practise.

PE is on a Wednesday - the children are to come to school in their PE kit.
