Well done to all of the children on a brilliant second full week in school. They've settled in very well, we're so very proud of them.

We are very grateful to the parents and carers who have been leaving their children at the door this week. We know it can be a little daunting for yourself and the children, but everyone is doing so well and it's great to see their independence growing already.

Our topic this half term is Food Glorious Food!  We're learning all about how to make healthy choices and thinking about ourselves and our home. This week, we have been reading Charlie and Lola's book 'I will never not ever eat a tomato' and we have been thinking about our own favourite foods. We have also been extending our sentences during Spark your Speech by trying to use the conjunction 'but'.

In Maths, we have been concentrating on the numbers 1, 2 and 3. We have been learning about how these numbers are made and how to recognise them in the environment. We've been working hard on a new concept called subitising, which means to know what number is shown without counting. Have a go at it at home. Show the children a number of dots on a page or a number of objects on the floor and ask them to tell you how many without counting. The more they practise this skill, the better they will become.

We started our challenges for our Reception children this week. Each of our areas has a variety of challenges in and once the children have completed a challenge, they get a challenge badge for their board. The aim is to complete 5 challenges each week to receive a certificate in our Learning Hero assembly.

Rabbits Learning Hero: Zara

Hedgehogs Learning Hero: Maiya

Well done to you both!

It can be a little hectic at dropping off and picking up times - if you need to talk to us, please do wait a little until most of the children have gone or email/phone us, or if it's a general question we check Teams each day.

Attendance: Congratulations to the Rabbits who got 98.5% attendance last week.  The Little Owls and Hedgehogs will be catching you up soon, I'm sure!

We are looking forward to another great week.

Best wishes

Mrs Frost & Miss Collinson
